What we do?
The Affirmative Action Office Conflict Resolution Service provides confidential mediation to faculty and staff in resolving potential discrimination and/or harassment disputes informally, offers resources for addressing and resolving work related conflicts, provides mediation and other dispute resolution training, and promotes the value of addressing differences before they become formal grievances.
Who is eligible?
All faculty, staff and administrators.
What is mediation?
Mediation is a voluntary and confidential process that offers a safe and open environment to talk about conflict and to explore resolution with an impartial mediator. The mediator will meet the parties, help them to discuss the conflict, listen to each point of view, clarify the issues, identify common interests, and collaboratively explore possible solutions cosistent with each of their interests. Participation in mediation does not interfere with any existing administrative rights or privileges.
Why consider mediation?
Mediation is an informal alternative dispute resolution process designed to assist employees resolve work-related conflicts or disputes and find mutually acceptable solution.
The mediation process will provide for confidentiality of the process and confidentiality of the mediation documents to the extent permitted by Federal and State law. While mediation is available for addressing workplace disputes, disputes that may occur as a result of serious misconduct are not covered by confidentiality.
There is no cost associated with the services.
